Take care of cuticles

Cuticles are totally the most neglected part of nails. No one ever pays the care and attention that they need. It doesn't matter if you paint your nails with the perfect color for you, if your cuticles are a horrendous mess, then your nails are just not going to look good at all.

If you're gonna care for your cuticles the right way, then you're going to need a cuticle remover. My personal favorite is Pro FX cuticle remover. It is basically a gel that is applied to the cuticles and then you soak them for about two minutes. After you have soaked your nails in it, you use a dry rag to gently remove the gel. Use a soft towel in order to push your cuticles back. This is a great product and it can easily be found in stores like Wal-Mart

Sally Hansen also offers a cuticle remover that is a lot more intense and strong that the pro FX remover. It also acts as a callus remover. If you opt for this product, I would definitely suggest only using it every month. It's really strong and you don't want to do more damage than good.

Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle cream is a really cool product for making your nails nice and soft. I basically use this product on my nails every night before I go to sleep. It leaves my fingers feeling so amazing and fresh. It's great for keeping your nails healthy and strong.

When tending to your cuticles, it may be tempting to trim them off, but this is not good. This can often lead to infection, and having cuticles is important for protecting your nail bed. Gently push your cuticles back rather than trimming them. The cuticle remover gels will make this process really easy and painless.

Appling Nail Polish

Love this video about applying nail polish the right way. I love painting my nails, but I am definitely a bit of a perfectionist. I'm thinking about going shopping for some new polishes. I found this articles about the best nail polish brands and I think I'm going to finally try out Essie. I always see it around but I've never used the brand before. I'm sure it's great!

Brittle to healthy nails

If you have found that your nails are beginning to look a bit discolored after wearing lots of dark colors, did you know that there is a way to help whiten your nails again. After using lots of nail polish, your nails can start to become a yellowing color. It's just doesn't look so great. I found this cool recipe to get my nails back into tip top shape.

Mix together a bit of baking soda, 3% hydrogen peroxide and a little bit of lemon juice. Apply the paste created all over the nails as well as underneath the tips of the nails. Let it sit for a couple of minutes. If your nails are really bad you can use an old toothbrush and gently scrub your nails using the paste. Another method that also works is to hold a slice of lemon onto the nail bed for a couple of minutes. This works as well, but it may take longer and may take more applications before you see the results than it does to use the baking soda method.

Always make sure you moisturize if you're going to try something like this.
